End of Semester Reflection

This semester has been a lot of fun for my first college experience.  Stressful, but still a lot of fun.  The audio memoir was something I never thought I would have ever done, but I have done more recording of my voice in the past few months than I have in my life.  It was a new experience to have to write about myself for a few pages and then have to essentially talk about myself for a couple of minutes for a grade in a class.  After finishing talking about myself, we went to a book about one of the most self-centered people I know, Emma.  I did not particularly enjoy the book all that much, but the discussions and analysis that came out of the reading of the book were very entertaining.  I enjoyed hearing all of the perspectives and intricate knowledge that people knew while I was struggling to keep track of who was who.

However, my favorite part was definitely the research project for the end of the semester.  I always enjoy looking really deep into subjects that I know surface-level information about, and this research topic let me not only find out more about a topic I really enjoy - cults, mass hysteria, and other similar ideas - but also relate it to something I never really thought could be relevant to the topic - family relationships.  Not only was it fascinating to find out how satanism led to parents being overly controlling of their children, but it was also amazing to see what other people were able to come up with and discover for their own research.
